Dance Sync Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 30, 2026
Dance Sync is designed to synchronize YouTube choreography playback to music selected by the user.
Data Dance Sync processes
Dance Sync may process:
audio from a browser tab that the user explicitly selects as Browser Music;
audio from a YouTube choreography tab that the user explicitly selects;
microphone audio when the user explicitly enables Room Speaker mode or enables the microphone fallback used by Auto mode;
the title and URL of connected tabs, used locally to identify the selected source and detect when the user changes songs or choreography videos.
How data is used
Audio is analyzed locally on the user’s device to estimate tempo, low-frequency beat timing, and synchronization offsets. Temporary analysis data is held in memory while Dance Sync is running.
Dance Sync does not record, permanently store, upload, transmit, sell, or share browser-tab audio or microphone audio.
Dance Sync does not use analytics, advertising, tracking, user accounts, or remote servers.
Microphone access
Microphone access is optional. It is used only when the user chooses Room Speaker mode or explicitly enables the microphone fallback for Auto mode. This lets Dance Sync hear music played by an external device, including remote playback systems such as Spotify Connect.
Data retention
Audio samples and derived beat-analysis state are temporary and are discarded when captures are disconnected, the helper page is closed, or the extension session ends. Dance Sync does not maintain a server-side database.
Limited Use
Dance Sync uses accessed information only to provide its disclosed user-facing synchronization functionality and related operational behavior. It does not transfer user data for advertising, profiling, credit, or unrelated purposes.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In accordance with those requirements, Dance Sync limits use of accessed data to providing and improving its single user-facing purpose. Dance Sync does not sell user data, use it for personalized advertising, transfer it to data brokers or other information resellers, use it to determine creditworthiness, or permit humans to access user data except where required by law or expressly authorized by the user.
